ABOUT
5.56mm Full Metal Jacket is a Doom 3 multiplayer total conversion which takes place in fictive
environments all over the world in the year 2020 where the 2 remaining
superpowers (West and East) send their best men to outplay the enemy and be
first to dominate the area of operation. The special forces teams consisting of
battlefront experienced marines, skilled engineers and expert scientists fight
it out on a great variation of different maps which range from huge deserted
outdoor complexes to the narrow spaced metallic stations of the 22nd century
(time travel).
FMJ is one of the very few multiplayer online shooters that provides absolute precise damage and ballistics calculations. Every bullet fired in FMJ is actually rendered as a single 3d bullet object that travels through the virtual space being affected by physical parameters such as gravity. Furthermore FMJ makes use of Doom3's introduced per-poly-hit-detection-system which is superior in any thinkable way compared to the system used in common 3d shooters (hitboxes). FMJ makes use of the "unified light and shadowing" concept to the fullest and renounces faking or skipping features.
Accordingly to your team you receive the full weapon-arsenal available supported by your side. There are 7 classes of weapons ....Fists/Flashlight, Pistols, Shotguns, Sub-Machineguns, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles and Grenades.
Although FMJ is considered a first person shooter it provides the player a third person view to help you get a better overview during intense firefights or just to enjoy the virtual world from a different perspective.
FMJ features 25 unique maps and 3 different gametypes which are: Capture the Flag, Team DeathMatch and Capture & Control.
The player can choose from 10 unique player models picking the avatar that fits him most. To enhance gameplay and game-fun fully customizable and voteable AI players have been added to the game which can run in dedicated or listen server mode and render the gamer independent to an internet access. Features like "player inactivity control" or "server banning" are just some of the tools provided to serveradmins.
FMJ 0.95 is crossplatforming and fully compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, MacOS and Linux.

Map descriptions :
"desert_plateau":
This map scenario takes place on a small mountain plateau where each side spawns inside an aged bunker. Make sure to not let the enemy infiltrate your base.... oh and take a look at the top of the plateau... you might like what you find there. ;) The huge trees give excellent cover in case you get ambushed from an unknown direction......

"desert_delta":
This map scenario takes place in a very hot and dry desert valley where each side spawns inside an abandoned desert village. There are several ways to reach the enemy base and plenty of space for hot desert fights.... The desert trees are smaller than the plateau trees but still serve well for cover.... also the village itself leaves plenty of possibilities open to ambush the enemy from a position he doesn't expect ;)

"desert_valley_night":
This map scenario is basically the same setup as the "desert_delta" but takes place during the night... so stealth tactics get even more important since the enemy can see your gunfire from the far distance..... It is curious how the village and landscape changes its flair while everything lights up almost surreal in the moonlight...... ;)

"ammo_docks":
This map scenario takes place in a huge military harbour where ships in the background are busy with loading and unloading their cargo. Once in a while an F-16 Fighter Jet is flying over the whole scenario trying to recon the area for the reported intruders.... This map offers excellent close combat fighting where almost everything in the harbour serves as cover, from the containers to the cargo boxes.....

"at_war":
This map scenario takes place in a country torn apart by war. The city where the two teams are deployed, is endangered by the steadily enclosing battlefront (you can already hear various gunfire and explosions). This map demonstrates the power of the doom³ engine, since you are to experience a part of town in all its glory including real scale Buildings, a canal complex where you can watch the city beeing correctly refracted and reflected in the canal's water and many more things....As you can imagine this realism and complexity comes at a price, so basically anything less then a "2Ghz CPU, 512 MB RAM and a Geforce 6800" will run this thing as a slideshow in slowmotion.....

"de_gowbarb":
This map scenario takes place in a rock-landscape at the plateau of an abandoned village. The rotten ruines give perfect cover and enable heavy close range combat fighting. The whole area is sealed with a barbwire fence forcing the the teams to fight it out in the middle of the ruines. Shotgun is King here ;) ........
